South African woman, 119, may be world's oldest

Johannesburg, July 26 (ANI): A 119-year-old South African woman may soon claim the record for the world's oldest person.

According to her identity papers, Johanna Mazibuko was born on 11 May, 1894. She is the oldest of her 10 siblings and has outlived five of her seven children.

The woman is quite agile as she cooks and dresses herself, makes her own bed and even does the laundry.

She told The Sowetan that she is doing alright and her son, Tseko added that though she can move around on her own, she can't stand for too long as it makes her dizzy, News24 reported.

Mazibuko has witnessed British imperialism, apartheid and the era of democracy led by Nelson Mandela.

The world's oldest known person, 116-year-old Jiroemon Kimura from Japan, died in June. (ANI)
