South African heavyweight boxer Botha passes drug test

Johannesburg, Feb 14 (ANI): Heavyweight boxer Francois Botha has passed a drug test at Lancet Laboratories in his native South Africa and now wants a rematch with New Zealand boxer Sonny Bill Williams.

Botha, who lost to Williams in Brisbane last week, said he landed in South Africa on the Sunday, and the next day he went for the tests, and it came back clean, adding he sent the results back to Australia and New Zealand for them to see for themselves.

According to Sports24, Australian newspapers reported earlier this week that Botha, a former IBF champion, had tested positive for illegal substances in tests done before the fight against the All Black rugby star.

Botha said the only people who could have done those tests were the Australian Boxing Commission, and they didn't even do it.

Nicknamed 'The White Buffalo', Botha said Williams had to get back in the ring with him to redeem himself, adding he would prefer a fight in Durban. (ANI)
