Johannesburg, Feb 1(ANI): Graeme Smith has vowed to stay focused on their opening Test match against visiting Pakistan at the Wanderers amidst the hype created around his 100th match as South Africa captain.
Smith said the outpouring of emotion and love from the fans, wherever he has gone over the last few days, has been incredible but on Friday at the eve of the first Test, he will be focused on the match.
Smith further said he team's training sessions had been tough and hard and had also acted as a reality check, Sport24 reports.
While he was an experienced campaigner, Smith said he also had to ensure the team wasn't caught up in all the emotion.
Smith added it's always a challenge to keep the team focused but there's a good maturity in the dressing room.
Smith further said Proteas have had a lot of success of late, with some incredible achievements and milestones being reached, and he added he could feel his players' pride and energy.
The captain added the way his players have prepared and gone about their work has always been professional, therefore, they we will go out there tomorrow and put their plans into play.
Smith expressed hope South Africa will have a good day one and it will kick start a good Test match for us. (ANI)
