Healthy habits

Ever wonder how Aishwarya Rai’s skin looked so bright and glowing on her wedding day? Celebrities understand the key factor in achieving radiance. You have to be healthy on the inside and the outside. They eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and typically eat non-fried home-cooked meals. They also avoid maida and white flour foods, as high glycemic food items are a major culprit of those last minute breakouts.

For proper hydration, celebrities also drink at least 8-10 glasses of water. A proper water balance can prevent your skin from looking dull and dehydrated on your wedding day.

Keep it simple

Many brides get so stressed about how they will look for their big event that they use tons of different products, go for many different types of facials and start over-exfoliating their skin. They listen to everyone’s advice and often end up trying all of it. This can be very dangerous for your skin.
Any dermatologist can tell you that celebrities know their skin. They know that after using so many varied types of makeup and products for their shoots and appearances, their skin needs to breathe. So follow the stars and keep it simple.

Maintain a simple beauty care regime of cleansing and moisturising twice daily. Don’t add more than one new product a week, and don’t try new products the week before your wedding. You don’t want to risk getting an allergy on your D-day. Try to avoid those salon facials. Most facials use at least 8-10 different products, exposing your skin to the risk of rashes and pimples. Furthermore, many beauticians aggressively extract pimples, even those that shouldn’t be extracted. This can result in scars and unsightly bumps. If you must do a facial, do it at least 3 weeks before so that any side effects can be managed by your dermatologist.

Go to your dermatologist

Every celebrity bride knows that it is best to go to the professionals when it comes to looking beautiful. Most celebrity brides have a regular dermatologist that manage their skin and hair needs.
What every young bride should know is that you need to start seeing a dermatologist earlier rather than later. If you have pimples or marks or pigmentation or any other skin or hair concern, treatment can take 3-6 months to achieve that perfect celebrity skin. So make sure you see your own skin doctor well in advance of your wedding day to get that radiant glow.

Even if you did not have enough time to see a dermatologist three months in advance, that does not mean that she/he cannot do anything for you. In fact, for a quick glow, your dermatologist can offer you a quick gentle chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or even a laser treatment, depending on when your big day is. This will make your skin smoother and give it natural celebrity radiance for your wedding day.

Use Your Sunblock

Bollywood starlets are well aware that the sun is the major cause of pigmentation, marks, ageing and tanning. So, follow in their footsteps and avoid the sun. The sun is the strongest between the hours of 10AM-3PM. Stay indoors or wear a hat or chunni over your head to avoid that sun.

Since, UV rays can penetrate even through windows, so even if you spend all day inside, the sun will affect you. So, look for a sunblock with both UVA and UVB protection, with at least SPF30++. This will ensure that you are properly protected from all the sun’s harmful side effects. Also, sunblock only lasts about 3-4 hours, so remember to reapply mid-day.

Follow these four skin care rules of Bollywood brides and get the skin you want for your wedding day!
