Dehradun, Oct.7 (ANI): Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday laid the foundation stone of two Reserve Border Security Force Battalions Headquarters at Sitarganj and Doiwala here.
Shinde was accompanied by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, and Subhash Joshi, Director General Border Security Force along with other dignitaries.
Subhash Joshi said with the establishment of the BSF Battalion the area would be developed and it will be the helpful for local people in Sitarganj.
The establishment of Reserve BSF Battalion Headquarters at Doiwala would benefit nearly 6000 serving and many more retired personnel from Uttarakhand. They would now be able to avail the Accommodation, Canteen, Medical and School facilities etc.
Shinde also inaugurated the BSF adventure Training and Advance Operational Institute at Doiwala here.
The institute was shifted from Tekanpur to Doiwala to increase opportunities in adventure sports including mountaineering and rafting.
This institute could provide relief in case of any natural calamities.
During the inauguration ceremony of adventure Training and Advance Operational Institute, trainers presented the demonstration of aero sports (Para Motor display), Rescue work carried out by ladies and presented the demonstration of Naitra (UAV).
Shinde also praised the BSF for Relief and Rehabilitation works in the Kedarnath valley during the Uttarakhand floods.
On this occasion, widows of Martyrs were honoured by giving Rs. 25,000 each for their assistance.
Ashok Kumar, IPS Inspector General also gave a presentation about the Relief and Rehabilitation works done by BSF in Uttrakhand during the disaster. (ANI)
