Sydney, Oct 27 (ANI): Australian cricket player Shane Watson has said that he is enjoying his role as a senior player with wisdom to share, but captaincy seems to be the furthest thing from his mind.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Watson revealed that it was nice to hear of Mike Hussey's comments about him being a prospective captain, but in the end he was happy contributing the way he was, as a player, with bat and ball, but also around the group as well.
Current captain Michael Clarke, whose chronic back troubles have cast doubt over his long-term plans in the game, is fighting to be fit for the opening Ashes Test at the Gabba on November 21, the report said.
While Cricket Australia's high performance manager Pat Howard famously critiqued Watson as 'sometimes' a team player, his colleagues in India have raved about his leadership and wisdom, the report added. (ANI)
