After an impressive leg spin bowling show in the T20Is, Shadab Khan has now earned place in Pakistan Test squad for the three-match series against West Indies in the Caribbean. Shadab bowled brilliantly in the recently-concluded T20I series against West Indies and picked 10 wickets from 4 matches. No other bowler picked more than 5 wickets in the T20I series. The Test series between West India and Pakistan will start from April 21 at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. Misbah-ul-Haq will continue to lead the side and going by the reports, he is expected to retire after this series.
The Test side for series against West Indies was picked by the selection committee, headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq. “The Test team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions in West Indies and the recent performances of players during the domestic and international season. The team is a fine blend of experience and youth and believe that team will do well in the tour”, said chief selector Inzamam.
Besides Shadab, Ahmed Shehzad is making comeback in the Test side. He last played a Test for Pakistan in 2015 against Sri Lanka at Pallekele. Shan Masood is also back in the squad after last year’s England tour. Usman Salahuddin, Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Abbas are the uncapped players in the side. Sarfraz Ahmed is the vice-captain and wicketkeeper in the team.
Pakistan’s current form in Test has been quite miserable as they were whitewashed in Australia and New Zealand in away tours. Pakistan’s last Test against West Indies was in Sharjah in October last year, where the Caribbean side triumph over them dramatically.
