Sensex trades flat in the mid-afternoon session

New Delhi, June 3 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities market was trading 0.38 percent down in the mid-afternoon trade Monday.

Metal, healthcare and IT stocks went up while oil and gas, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and banking stocks dipped.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,859.22 points, was trading at 19,685.52 points in the mid-afternoon session, down 74.78 points or 0.38 percent from its previous day's close at 19,760.30 points.

Sensex touched a high of 19,860.19 points and a low of 19,631.00 points in intra-day trade.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 0.19 percent or 11.40 points up at 5,997.35 points.

The S&P BSE IT index was up at 82.32 points, while the metal index surged 55.63 points, and the healthcare index gained 51.28 points.

The oil and gas index went down by 107.66 points, while the auto index dipped 84.65 points, the FMCG index went down by 53.89 points and the bankex slid 52.69 points.
