Saudi Arabia to strictly enforce 'women only sale girls in lingerie shops' regimen

Manama, July 10 (ANI): Saudi Arabia labour authorities have said no extension will be given to lingerie shops to have only women as salesperson.

Saud Al Snaitan, the head of the fieldwork task force at the labour ministry, said that shops were given one year to regularize their situation and ensure that selling is confined to women.

According to Gulf News, he said that there will be no extension of the grace period and they have now launched inspection visits to assess how the shops are complying with the new regulations.

Last year, the labour ministry warned all lingerie and cosmetics shops to replace their salesmen, mainly foreigners from Arab or Asian countries, with local saleswomen in a move to boost employment opportunities for thousands of Saudi women and to adhere to social traditions and values.

Al Snaitan said that they will visit all shops and take action against those who refuse to comply with the rules. (ANI)
