From cricketers to cricket followers, people from across the globe have poured in wishes as Sachin Tendulkar turned 44. However, the maestro himself had a surprise ready for them. The Sachin Tendulkar biopic named ‘Sachin A Billion Dreams’ has grabbed a lot of attention since the release of its trailer and on the Master Blaster’s birthday, the first song from the movie is released. Named “Hind Mere Jind”, it is sung by maestro AR Rahman while the lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil. The film directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures will release on May 26 later this year. Along with all the other fans, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to celebrate their icon player Tendulkar’s birthday during their match against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). “Mumbai Indians would be celebrating Sachin’s birthday at the Wankhede stadium tomorrow where the team will be taking on Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL encounter,” an MI source had revealed to PTI before the match. Later, Tendulkar turned up for the match himself. He also cut a cake decorated with a symbolic bat and ball on top of it at the ground to mark his birthday.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) turned down a request from the makers of the film for a discount on Tendulkar’s videos. “The BCCI has a policy in place. The board didn’t give concession to Dhoni for his biopic then how can board change its rules for Tendulkar’s biopic. After all it’s a commercial movie, which is going to be shown in theatres. Already the trailer that they released has got more than a million hits. The board’s stance was also informed to the Committee of Administrators,” a BCCI official had told Indian Express.
