Rogers vows for Oz's 'last laugh' in Ashes despite English pal Finn

London, May 5 (ANI): Australian cricketer Chris Rogers has vowed that his team will be having the last laugh during the Ashes when they win the series even though he admitted that he is friends with English cricketer Steven Finn, with whom he plays in the Middlesex county side.

The Middlesex pair will lock horns in the summer after Rogers' surprise call-up to the Australian squad, The Sun reports.

Although Rogers said that he is looking forward to exchange friendly jokes with his friend Finn during the Ashes, he insisted that winning the Ashes would be the real cause for his happiness, adding that he will forget that Finn is his friend and look upon him only as a rival to be beaten when the battle lines are drawn.

However, Rogers said that he expected Finn to have the same feelings that he is having and will also do his best to dismiss Rogers from the field during the series, even though he confessed to looking forward to exchanging pleasantries with his friend at the end of a match.

Meanwhile, the Middlesex opener said that he keeps his teammates at Middlesex laughing at Finn's expense, adding that he tends to enjoy himself making people laugh.

Despite England being touted as the favourites to win the Ashes after Australia's flop show in recent months, Rogers said that he is confident about getting success in the series as his side has some exceptional cricketers with considerable talent.

Rogers further said that England would face a hard-fought series if Australia plays well with combined efforts from all the players. (ANI)
