Rodgers urges Liverpool players to 'step up' to earn 'possible' Champions League spot

London, Oct 19 (ANI): Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has urged his players to step up and prove their Premier League title credentials by continuing their good performance despite some tough matches on their upcoming schedule.

According to, the Anfield outfit faces a competitive fixture list in the coming months, but the Northern Irish manager is confident his side will still be in the title race come January.

The 40-year-old refuses to be daunted by the challenges awaiting his side, and is hoping the Reds can draw on their victory over reigning champions Manchester United in the coming months, the report said.

He said that the players need to step up in the big games and the club is happy and excited about what they can achieve.

Rodgers believes his side did not always get the results their performances deserved against the Premier League's top sides last season, and he is eager to put that right this term as he aims to still be in contention for the title come January, the report added.

He added that if Liverpool can start turning good performances against the top sides into points, they can be in contention for the top four, giving them a Champions League chance. (ANI)
