The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s medical team released an update on the injuries incurred by many cricketers ahead of the tenth season of the IPL.
Three new names were added to the injury list – Ravindra Jadeja, Umesh Yadav and Murali Vijay.
Kings XI Punjab’s Murali Vijay may miss the entire tournament because he requires a surgery on his right wrist and needs to recover from a left shoulder injury.
Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav have been advised to rest for two weeks. Jadeja has issues with his spinning finger and Yadav has right hip and lower back soreness.
As expected, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli’s will undergo rehabilitation for the right shoulder injury he sustained during the Test series against Australia. His recovery will be assessed in the second week of April to determine the exact date on which he can make a return to his IPL franchise.
Kohli’s RCB teammate KL Rahul may undergo surgery on his left shoulder and may miss the entire tournament.
The Rising Pune Supergiant’s Ravichandarn Ashwin has reported groin pain and has been advised 6-8 weeks of rehabilitation, hence the off-spinner will be missing the entire competition as well.
However, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have been declared fit to play this year’s IPL.
