Rape accused Nagar says he is 'physically & sexually' fit

The CID-Crime Branch had served a notice, fourth in a row, on Nagar to be present on September 25 for medical examination.

JAIPUR: A five-member team of the state CID-Crime Branch questioned former Rajasthan minister Babulal Nagar's family members, including his wife Sunita and personal staff posted at his official residence, on Thursday.

The CID-Crime Branch had served a notice, fourth in a row, on Nagar to be present on September 25 for medical examination.

Nagar, who was forced to quit over charges of sexual impropriety, skipped medical examination on Wednesday ignoring the police notice served on him.

On the contrary, Nagar sent a letter to the investigating officer - Additional Superintendent of Police V K Gaur - challenging the move for the medical test.

He asserted that his medical examination was not required as he was "physically and sexually fit".

His letter said he could not be forced for a medical examination without a court order.

The former minister, meanwhile, has gone underground after the victim recorded her statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) on September 21.

The police are summoning Nagar to collect his blood sample for a DNA test to match it with the semen found on the rape victim's clothes, police sources said.

Nagar also reportedly called up Gaur asking him to "stay away" from the case because the Ashok Gehlot government has already recommended a CBI probe.

Earlier, the family had told the police that Nagar was on a pilgrimage to Shirdi.

His call details, however, suggested that he was not in Shirdi, police sources said.

Meanwhile, the victim has submitted a memory card having call details in which she was purportedly offered Rs 2 crore for not speaking out to the police.

The memory card was sent for forensic examination, a crime branch officer said.
Later, Nagar wrote to the CID-Crime Branch saying that he is willing to appear before interrogators for medical test on September 28.

In a fresh notice, the CIDCrime Branch has asked Nagar to be present before it on Saturday for the medical test.
