New Delhi: Ajinkya Rahane looks set to make his Test debut, at the Kotla, on Friday. He's already featured in 16 ODIs and seven T20 Internationals.
According to The Telegraph's sources, both Rahane and the more experienced Suresh Raina are in the 12 shortlisted for the fourth and final Test against Australia, but the former is tipped to play.
Harbhajan Singh and Ashok Dinda are the two not figuring in the 12. The shortlisting was done late on Thursday.
Rahane, 24, has been in the Test squad right through this season and, so, deserves to get in when an opportunity has arisen.
The talk is that Rahane will play in the middle order, with Cheteshwar Pujara moving up in a stand-in role, opening with Murali Vijay.
Shikhar Dhawan's injury has forced yet another change to India's opening combination.
