Visakhapatnam, Sep 11 (ANI): Scores of anti-Telangana supporters staged a protest here on Wednesday against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Parakala Prabhakar, leader of a United Andhra Group, Vishalandhra Mahasabha, today said that no one was happy about the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
"This region is accepting this kind of division and we don't want to have this division at all and is very very clear," he said.
Prabhakar said that those politicians who had voted in favour of the bifurcation will have to change their stance and take a decision according to people's will.
"All the people in every meeting they are warning the political parties and the political leaders that do withdraw your resolutions, do withdraw your commitments, do withdraw your letters that you have written that you have submitted to the government of India that you don't have an objection to the division that you are in favour of the division. Those kind of stand will have to revised otherwise they would be sent to political exile by the people," he added.
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said that the process for the formation of the new state of Telangana would take about five to six months as per constitutional norms.
"The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has passed a resolution and further procedure will be done according to the Constitution of India. Telangana will be formed by following all the procedures and it would take five to six months," he said.
He also added that Telangana was being formed because it was the oldest issue and the people of that region have been agitating and demanding the formation of a separate state since 1956. (ANI)
