President gives away 11 gallantry awards to Army personnel

New Delhi, Jan.26 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday awarded of one Kirti Chakra and ten Shaurya Chakras to army personnel at an investiture ceremony held on the occasion of India's 64th Republic Day.

The Kirti Chakra was conferred on Major Anup Joseph Manjali of the Bihar Regiment/24th battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles.

Major Anup Joseph Manjali is a brave, dynamic and fearless officer commanding 'Sutrun Company' of 24 RR (BIHAR). He led his company column under extreme adverse terrain and weather conditions during the Battalion Level Operation in Jammu and Kashmir, launched on 30 September 2012.

On 1 October 20 12 at 3:30 hours, he achieved total surprise in establishing close cordon around a Dhok in which five hardcore foreign terrorist leaders were hiding from the heavily forested side.
