Ponting fined $250 for throwing bat in Ryobi Cup game against Western Australia

Melbourne, Feb 21 (ANI): Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been fined 250 dollars for throwing his bat in a Ryobi Cup game against Western Australia at WACA in Perth.

Ponting, who lost his cool after being run out for 95 in a mix-up with Tasmanian teammate Jordan Silk, was fined by Cricket Australia (CA) for breaching their Code of Behaviour, the Courier Mail reports.

According to a statement released by CA, it had objected to the prescribed penalty of an official reprimand for Ponting, who was a first time offender of the Code of Behaviour and requested the charge be heard in front of a CA Code of Behaviour Commissioner.

Ponting launched his bat as he walked back to the stands which landed a few metres in front of him, the report added. (ANI)
