For Mumbai Indians fans, the prospect of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting batting together in IPL- VI is mouthwatering, and the two legendary batsmen also seem eager about it.
According to Australian website news. co. au , Ponting said he sent Tendulkar a text message soon after Sunday’s auction in Chennai, where he was bought for his base price of $ 400,000 (` 2.12 crore) by Mumbai.
“I sent him a message as soon as the auction was over just to say I’m looking forward to playing with him,” Ponting said.
“He sent a message straight back saying the same thing. It will be great fun for us to play together.
We’ve played a lot against each other over the years and spent a little bit of time together off the field. I think I can still learn a fair bit from him as well. Hopefully he might even learn a few things off me.” After retiring from international cricket last year, Ponting has continued to play for his native Tasmania in domestic cricket and Hobart Hurricanes in the T20 Big Bash League.

“I never really felt that I’d got into the momentum of the game and I felt I did that this year with the Hurricanes and really enjoyed it,” he said. “ I felt like, coming away, I had a really good grasp on how I needed to play to be a good Twenty20 player. No doubt I’ll enjoy the IPL.”
