Chennai, Nov. 11 (ANI): Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy on Sunday out rightly denied PTI report of the UPA Government mulling over making CAG a multi-member body, saying he was misquoted.
"PTI correspondent interviewed me. At the time of interview, he asked me about the Shunglu Committee report. As far as the Shunglu Committee's report is concerned, this is relating to Commonwealth Games. I told him that Shunglu Committee submitted a report relating to Commonwealth Games. Honourable Prime Minister constituted the Group of Ministers under Defence Minister Antony, I am also a member of the committee and that committee is going into it and very soon we will be able to submit a report. But the PTI correspondent asked me about the other recommendations of the Shunglu Committee. I told him that it will also be considered by the government," said Narayanasamy.
"He did not specifically ask me that whether the government is considering the CAG to be made a multi-member body. I did not answer that point because that question did not arise. But unfortunately, today in the media it has been given that I considered, I told that the government is considering the proposal for making the CAG as a multi-member body. It is totally wrong. I was misquoted, it was told out of context. The correspondent wants to put his words in my mouth," he added.
PTI earlier quoted the Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office as saying in an interview that the government is 'actively' considering a proposal to make the CAG a multi-member body. (ANI)
