Players' union boss says England players 'significantly underpaid' than Oz counterparts

London, Feb 16 (ANI): English cricket players are substantially underpaid than their Australian counterparts, earning half the amount received by the Oz players, according to claims by the chief of the English players' union.

The chief executive of the Professional Cricketers Association, Angus Porter warned that English players are significantly underpaid as they do not have time to play for the Indian Premier League or other lucrative Twenty20 leagues because of their crowded schedules, the Mirror reports.

Porter further said that it would be a mistake to assume that central contracts are adequate compensations and added that even without the fortune coming in from the T20 appearances, English players are much less paid than their Australian rivals.

Porter also said that Oz players have the opportunity to star in their own domestic Big Bash League and also have IPL appearances, which are responsible for their huge earnings. (ANI)
