India’s cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 44th birthday yesterday amongst much fanfare at the Wankhede Stadium during Indian Premier League (IPL) Match No.28 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Prior to all the hullaballoo, Tendulkar quietly celebrated the special day at his residence in Mumbai. Tendulkar along with his wife Anjali, son Arjun, daughter Sara and mother Rajni was seen cutting a chocolate cake in presence of some of his close friends. Tendulkar in the pictures is seen blowing the candles and cutting the cake. In another picture, we see Anjali smearing cake all over Tendulkar’s face much to latter’s joy.
Tendulkar’s birthday at Wankhede saw the whole stadium singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him prior to the start of the game. During the match Tendulkar in a flash-interview with Matthew Hayden was seen cutting the cake on camera. MI had posted a video montage of different players sharing their experience with the master. Even current Indian Test, ODI and T20 skipper Virat Kohli was seen singing his idol ‘Happy Birthday’ wishes at an event along with hundreds of other fans. Kohli was not the only Indian player to wish the master, others like Virender Sehwag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble took to Twitter to wish their former teammate.
International cricketers like Michael Clarke and Adam Gilchrist too wished their most fierce competitor ‘Happy Birthday’.
