Picasso's lover's portrait fetches more than 28.5m

London, Feb. 6 (ANI): A painting by Pablo Picasso titled Femme Assise Pres d'une Fenetre that depicts the artist's "golden muse" and lover Marie-Therese Walter has been sold for more than 28.5 million pounds at Sotheby's in London.

The revolutionary painter first met his subject in 1927 when she was 17 and went on to have a love affair with her, the Telegraph reported.

Helena Newman, chairman of Sotheby's impressionist and modern art department Europe, said that they were delighted that the stunning and monumental portrait - part of the defining series that introduced his "golden muse" to the public eye, fetched such a strong price.

In 2010, Picasso's 'Nude, Green Leaves and Bust' was sold for 70 million pounds, the highest price paid for any of his works. (ANI)
