Phata Poster Nikhla Hero Music Review

By Rafat, Glamsham Editorial

The entire team of the runaway super hit, AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI, Tips Music Films', director Rajkumar Santoshi, composer Pritam Chakraborthy and lyricist Irshad Kamil come together to recreate the magic once again. This time, its evergreen teenage heartthrob Shahid Kapoor, along with promising actress Ileana D'Cruz (COCKTAIL) for the romantic comedy drama, PHATA POSTER NIKHLA HERO. Expectations are bound to be huge from the album, especially because it is a Tips venture, and they have always delivered chartbusting and memorable music. So let's check out what they have In store for us. It's Mika Singh who sets the chartbusting pace of the album with the sweet, cute and lovely rhythmic prepositioning number, 'Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai'. Indeed a great number that would be loved by most, from eight to eighty. More so due to it's nice Goan stylized tune, lovely retro as well as contemporary music arrangements and Mika Singh's adorable 'tapori' style rendition. Lyrics are just superb and the cute and humorous use of easy 'Mumbaiya' lingo is the USP of the track. Tips' and Pritam's trusted and ever dependable Atif Aslam along with Chinmayee Sreepada deliver the love ditty, 'Main Rang Sharbaton Ka' , and they are both just superb as they sing well in tandem. The tune that Pritam chooses is slightly reminiscent of "Teri Tasveer Mil Gayee' (BETAAB) but only in parts ('antara'), otherwise it's melodic Pritam all the way. Lyrics are very unique and effectively convey the romance between the leads. Arjith Singh (of AASHIQUI 2 fame) renders the solo version of 'Main Rang Sharbaton Ka' and he is good, although one prefers the Atif Aslam version. Benny Dayal, Shefali Alvaris and Shalmali Kholgode get together and groove to the funky, racy dance number, 'Hey Mr. DJ', which should have been titled 'Let's Go Bananas' as it is the addictive chorus of the track and the USP as well. The track would be loved by the youths and kids as well and would look great on screen when a dancer of the caliber of Shahid gyrates to its infectious rhythm. A sad 'judaai' (separation) number, that is trademark 'chartbusting Pritam', 'Mere Bina', is rendered by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Harshdeep. Rahat is simply outstanding, especially in the higher octaves and Harshdeep gives good support, although her husky vocals fail to complement Rahat, and one feels that Shreya would have been a better choice. Lyrics too are apt and would certainly be identified by the young Gen who falls in and out of love quite frequently. It is local Mumbaiya, or say Marathi flavor along with some North 'masala' thrown in that spice up 'Dhating Naach', the 'dhinchak' item number featuring the hot and sexy , Nargis Fakhri . A fun dance number rendered with zest and enthu by Nakash Azi and Neha Kakkar, that has a good nonstop racy rhythm (with some good rap portions as well) with lots of Hindustani musical arrangements like 'dhol', 'taashe', whistles, trumpets and horns etc. Lovely guitar strums and violin play commences the solo romantic track by Atif Aslam; well, no, no, it's quite an anti-climax as it actually turns out be a situational mother-son relation song, 'Janam Janam', dedicated to a special mom! Lyrics are situational and glorify motherhood and mother quite well. 'Janam Janam' reprise by Sunidhi Chauhan is the better of the two as the original was arranged like a romantic number, while this version, with minimal musical arrangements is composed more like a song dedicated to the mother. 'Janam Janam' sad version by Atif Aslam is a brief situational track that may be used as a background score. To sum up, the audio of Tips Music Film, PHATA POSTER NIKHLA HERO, lives up to the huge expectations and almost all the songs are good. The 'Agal Bagal' number is chartbusting and 'Dhating Naach' and 'Hey Mr. DJ' would surely climb charts. Our pick - Atif's 'Main Rang Sharbaton Ka' and Rahat's 'Mere Bina'. The chartbusting music would definitely be a plus point, and as always provide the Tips venture with the necessary propellant needed for a good opening when the film releases all over on 20th September! Rating - 3.5/5
