The ongoing four-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series between Pakistan and West Indies has so far been one-way traffic. The visitors currently have gained an unassailable 2-0 lead, and will be eyeing their third win in a row. Hosts, on the other hand, will want to get back into the mix and avoid a series defeat. So far West Indies have either played good or ugly cricket; losing matches by margins of 3 runs and 6 wickets. Pakistan, on the other hand, have dominated their opponents across departments in both of their wins. With a series on hand and a heck load of pride at stake, both teams will come out all guns blazing at the Port of Spain. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs West Indies, 3rd T20I at Port of Spain
Ahead of the third T20I at Port of Spain, let us take a look at some of the key individual clashes that are likely to determine the fate of the contest:
Shabad Khan vs Marlon Samuels: Pakistan’s find of the series, Shabad has been a regular at making opponent batsmen dance at his tunes. With 7 wickets to his name, Shabad has also been miser in his spells giving runs at 3.62 RPO. Marlon Samuels, who had a poor run in the last series West Indies played, finally found form and thrashed Imad Wasim all round the park in the previous game. Samuels, this time, will look to get his side to a win.
Wahab Riaz vs Carlos Brathwaite: Wahab exhibited his old self quite well in the second T20I. Wahab brought out raw pace and accuracy in the dying moments of the game that saw his side clinch a nail-biter. Brathwaite, on the other hand, has clicked in parts and is yet to gain full momentum in the series. Brathwaite will be eager to getpast Wahab, after the latter cleaned him up in their last meeting, not before taking a beating though.
Shoaib Malik vs Sunil Narine: Malik, who has excelled with the bat in the series with 66 runs from two games, will want to continue his scoring form. Malik in the series has stabilised a young and promising batting line-up. Narine, who’s 3-for pegged back Pakistan’s charge in the second T20I, will be eager to perform more for his side. Narine’s one critic has always been lack of national performance. Malik, who is a good player of spin, will surely challenge Narine’s trickery in this game.
Imad Wasim vs Kieron Pollard: Wasim destroyed West Indies in the last T20I series they played in the UAE. This time however, things are a bit different. Wasim has struggled with his line and length given the sluggish pitches on offer. Pollard, on the other hand, is not having a great year with the bat. His inability to hit sixes at crucial junctures has taken a major hit. Both will look to outsmart each other in the third T20I.
