Pak Taliban hands list of 4,752 prisoners to be released by govt.

Karachi, Sept. 14 (ANI): The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has handed a list of 4,752 prisoners to the government who they want to be released, as a first step towards negotiations and peace.

A TTP leader said that two of their commanders met with Pakistani officials in Sararogha, South Waziristan, and handed over the list of prisoners.

According to the Express Tribune, the TTP leader explained that they have given the list of their colleagues imprisoned in different prisons of Pakistan including those on death row.

Another commander claimed that the Taliban have formed a five-member committee that has drafted a list of demands that will form the basis of negotiations with the government.

Member of the TTP political commission, Ehsanullah Ehsan, said that the Taliban leaders are closely monitoring the activities of the anti-dialogue elements adding that certain secular elements, some retired generals and security personnel are opposing the talks and are making attempts to foil the process.

Meanwhile, a TTP spokesperson for South Waziristan, Asimullah Mehsud, confirmed the swap of militants between the Pakistani military and Taliban militants in the Shawal area of South Waziristan Agency. (ANI)
