Islamabad, Oct 1(ANI): The Pakistani media has blasted Twenty20 captain Mohammad Hafeez for his ham-fisted decision making during their ignominious eight-wicket loss to archrivals India in the second match of the Super Eight stage of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in Colombo on Sunday.
According to a report in the Nation, the Pakistani Cricket Board's (PCB) preferred captain Hafeez has let the whole nation down with his inept captaincy skills during the World Twenty20 Cup.
Hafeez's decision to bat first badly backfired as Pakistani players could only manage a meager score of 128 in 19.4 overs, succumbing under the monumental pressures of an India-Pak game, the paper said.
Pakistan players could have easily won the match but players' over confidence and poor field placing along with sloppy fielding all contributed to their loss, as India achieved the target in 17th over after losing 2 wickets, it added.
The paper further added, that Hafeez is incapable of taking bold decisions at the right time, and also makes baffling decisions at times, looking like a confused professor.
Hafeez can neither make right bowling changes nor can place field at the right position and should be removed from the captaincy, it said.
In the presence of a known and well-acclaimed coach like Dave Whatmore, such a poor show and performance has no justification whatsoever, and the nation wants to know as to when the players will prove they deserve to be the true representatives of the nation, the paper concluded. (ANI)
