Pak Foreign Office cancels pilgrims' visit to India citing security concerns

Islamabad, Aug. 14 (ANI): The Pakistan Government has cancelled the visit of a group of pilgrims to India, citing security concerns.

The Foreign Office said the visit of the Pakistani Zaireen to participate in the Urs of Hazrat Amir Khusro (RA) in Delhi scheduled for August 22 to 29, 2013 has been cancelled after the tensions flared between the two countries over the August 6 Line of Control (LoC) incident.

According to the Express Tribune, the Foreign Office statement has urged all zaireens or pilgrims not to move from Lahore.

The decision not to send the pilgrims was taken after protests outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi over the recent ambushed killing of five Indian soldiers in Poonch along the LoC. (ANI)
