Owaisi taken to hospital for medical tests

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi was taken to a government hospital for medical tests after he evaded arrest by the Hyderabad police yesterday. Owaisi had sought four days' time to join the police for recording his statement over his alleged hate speech.

Earlier in the day, a police team went to the MIM leader's house to escort him to the hospital.

Cases against Owaisi has been booked in three different police stations in Andhra Pradesh for giving hate speeches in the state.

Owaisi returned from London yesterday and his lawyers said the legislator was ill and couldn't appear before the police.
