Gurgaon, Feb 10 (IANS) With an eye to the 2014 general elections, union Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot Sunday said the government would not hesitate in waiving loans of farmers, as it did five years ago.
"If there is need, we would not be found wanting," Pilot said, addressing a farmers' rally near here.
He said the United Progressive Alliance-I government had waived farm loans worth Rs.70,000 crore in 2008. The move benefited the Congress in the 2009 general elections.
The farmers' rally was organised to mark the birth anniversary of the minister's father and former union minister Rajesh Pilot.
