Only rank turners will satisfy Dhoni

Dhoni celebrates the win on Monday. The young New Zealand seamers may have set the alarm bells ringing for MS Dhoni ahead of the gruelling winter Tests against England and Australia. Dhoni, looking a bit exhausted by the effort on the field, said though he was satisfied with his personnel and their performance, he wasn't happy with the wickets.

The wicket in Bangalore helped the seamers and it seemed the hard work against a weak Kiwi side was too much for the skipper. "It's quite some time before we play a Test series," he said.

"We would like ourselves playing on turning tracks. That's something we didn't get in the series. But still the spinners bowled really well in Hyderabad and Bangalore. It's pleasing to see them fight the batsmen on tracks which really didn't help them much, especially in the first innings."

The India spinners took 31 wickets out of a possible 40. Although Dhoni said there was enough turn, some locals said they hadn't seen the Hyderabad pitch turn so much while a couple of Kiwis said there was quite a bit of turn.

So, it seems MSD wants even more turn to repay Australia and England. Both nations used seaming and bouncy tracks to unnerve the Indians.

Happy with the effort, he confirmed this team would stay intact for the remaining series.

The question was of No 6 Suresh Raina, but Dhoni defended him and wants to give him time to be groomed into a batsman fit for that slot.

"There are two ways of fighting pressure -one is to take the fight on and look for big shots. In the first innings, Raina went out there and played his shots. Then, he could've nicked one and then the same question could have been asked. (But now) people say it was brilliant batting, it was counter attack and all. You learn from your experience."
