Onions, Tremlett included in England squad for fourth Ashes Test

Johannesburg, Aug 6 (ANI): England paceman Graham Onions has reportedly been given the chance of playing in the Ashes after he was included in the 13-man squad for the fourth Test to be held at Durham.

According to Sport24, as England retained their hold on the Ashes courtesy of a rain-affected draw in the third Test at Old Trafford on Monday, the squad for the fourth match of the series, which starts at Onions' Chester-le-Street home ground on Friday, was unveiled by the selectors.

The report further said that along with Onions, fast bowler Chris Tremlett and all the eleven players playing at Old Trafford were also included as England look for a series victory after winning the first Test at Trent Bridge by 14 and the second, at Lord's, by a colossal 347 runs.

However, the report added, James Taylor, who had been in the 14-man squad at Old Trafford as cover for star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who had been struggling with a calf problem, has not been included for the Durham Test.

Congratulating the players for retaining the Ashes, England national selector Geoff Miller said that the inclusion of Onions and Tremlett will give coach Andy Flower and captain Alastair Cook an opportunity to assess the fitness of the bowling attack and the Durham conditions following the third Test.

However, the former England off-spinner also said that there is still a lot of cricket left in this series, adding that it is important that the players recover and refocus ahead of another crucial week of Test cricket.

England squad for fourth Test: Cook (captain), Joe Root, Jonathan Trott, Pietersen, Ian Bell, Jonny Bairstow, Matt Prior (wicketkeeper), Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Onions, Tremlett (ANI)
