It's official! Women are better multitaskers than men

London, Oct. 25 (ANI): Researchers have confirmed the popular belief that women are better at multitasking than men by testing the theory in the laboratory as well as in the real world.

In the first stage of the study, scientists measured response time of 120 men and 120 women when they were asked to switch quickly between two simple computer tasks, the Mirror reported.

The results showed that both men and women slowed down when changing between two different tasks, but performance speed in men slowed by 77 percent as compared to 69 percent in women.

In the real life test, a different group of 47 men and 47 women faced three everyday challenges, including sketching out how they would try to search for a set of lost keys in a field or to locate restaurants on a map.

Professor Keith Laws, from the University of Hertfordshire, said that women participants developed far better strategies for finding the lost keys and it shows that they may be superior at tasks requiring high-level cognitive control, particularly planning, monitoring and inhibition. (ANI)
