Now, smartphones that recognizes you from taps and swipes

London, Sept. 15 (ANI): Researchers have developed a new smartphone that can identify its owner by their method of tapping and swiping on a touchscreen.

SilentSense built by Cheng Bo at the Illinois Institute of Technology and his colleagues does just that.

The built-in-sensors of the phone are able to record the unique pattern of pressure, duration and fingertip size and position that each user exhibits while they are interacting with their phone or tablet, New Scientist reported.

Machine learning algorithms turn this into the user's signature and lock out anyone whose patterns of usage don't match the user's.

For increasing the system's accuracy, the smartphone's accelerometer and gyroscope measure how much the screen moves when the user jabs at it. (ANI)
