'Non-performing' Afridi may face axe from Champions Trophy squad

Karachi, Apr 27 (ANI): Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi may not be included in the national squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, according to sources.

According to sources, Afridi has not been short-listed for the final squad as he has not taken any wickets in his last few one day internationals (ODI) for which the selectors feel that he is not doing justice to his role as a bowler, The Nation reports.

The report further said that Afridi, a veteran of 354 ODIs, had also struggled with his bowling in the recent national one-day championship.

Meanwhile, the sources also said that senior players like Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik have also been told to prove their worth to the team or face boot-out.

The sources further said that the selectors have also omitted Wahab Riaz, who had played in the disastrous South Africa tour, from the squad for the Champions Trophy. (ANI)
