Naxal hideout busted in Jharkhand

Ghatshila (East Singhbhum District, Jharkhand), June 21 (ANI): Security forces recently raided and busted a Naxal transit camp in the hills of the Ghatshila subdivision in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum District.

The joint operation was launched by the district police and commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after they got intelligence inputs about the presence of Naxals in the region.

A brief encounter ensued between security forces and the Naxals in the hills near Bakracocha village in Ghatshila subdivision, located about 100 kms from Jamshedpur.

Although, the Naxals managed to flee, security forces recovered a 9mm pistol, three live cartridges, six detonators, five gelatin sticks, two circuits, four battery chargers, one camera flashgun, one can bomb and a China-made binocular from the scene of encounter.

Dharmendra Singh, a CRPF Commandant, said: "All the items recovered from the spot can be used against security forces. We have recovered IEDs, flashguns, detonators, pistol and other explosive devices."

Security forces have intensified operations to combat 'red terror' after two major attacks carried out by Naxals in a span of two weeks.

To keep a track of and gather information about the movement of Naxals, the government is planning to add more Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the Naxal affected areas. (ANI)
