Guwahati, Jan. 24: Hosts Navarang Club and City Cricket Club today clinched contrasting victories in their respective matches of the 2nd Nilimoy Choudhury T20 cricket tournament under way at Judges Field here.

While City got the better of Genesis Club by 16 runs, Navarang prevailed over Brahmaputra Boys Club by 99 runs.

In the morning match, put in to bat, City posted 163 for nine and Genesis were restricted to 147 for six.

Rahul Hazarika topscored for City with a run-a-ball 43 (4x5) and Romario Sharma contributed 42 (4x2, 6x4). Amjad Ali also slammed two towering sixes to score 18.

Dhiraj Singh of Genesis claimed four wickets for 27 runs and Manashjyoti Gogoi claimed two for 18.

For Genesis, Sajid Khan scored 35 (4x4) while Kangkan Das and Jyotiraditya Chetia chipped in with 30 (4x3, 6x1) and 24 (4x1, 6x2) respectively.

Chandradeep Das of City took three for 23.

In the other match, Navarang elected to bat and scored 189 for four, chasing which, Brahmaputra Boys could only muster 90 for six.

Manoj Malo scored a blistering 108 for Navarang, facing only 69 balls and hammering 15 fours and two sixes. Rajiv Kalita (62, 4x7, 6x2)) was another notable scorer for the side.

Arunav Sarma of Brahmaputra Boys notched up two wickets for 22 runs.

For Brahmaputra Boys, Sonu Kr Sah (32, 4x4), Arunav Sarma (17, 4x3) and Gitartha Dev Sarma (11, 4x1) were the notable scorers.

Roshan Basfore of Navarang picked up two wickets for 14 runs and Ranjit Mali claimed one for eight.

River Rine Club will play Maharana AC and Navarang would take on Vintage Club tomorrow.

Inter-frontier hockey: Sashastra Seema Bal, Guwahati Frontier, retained the 7th SSB inter-frontier hokey tournament title beating SSB, Ranikhet Frontier, 9-0 in the final played at M. Tayebulla Hockey Stadium here on Thursday.
