Mumbai meet on state

nPatna, Jan. 4: A meeting of the Bihar State Industrial Investment Advisory Council (BSIIC) sub-committee was held in Mumbai today under the chairmanship of Infosys chairman K.V. Kamath.

Deepak Singh, the managing director of BIADA, said today's meeting, which also saw Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairman U.K. Sinha's participation, discussed ways to develop the agriculture business and food processing industries in the state.

nPatna: Vigilance investigation bureau on Friday filed chargesheet against five persons, including former surveyor Naresh Kumar, former junior engineer Rajeev Kumar, former assistant Ram Bhrosha Pandit and type writer Naresh Kumar Rajak of the Patna Municipal Corporation, in connection with financial irregularities worth Rs 7.46 crore in the department.

nPatna: The All-India Presiding Officers Conference, scheduled from February 17 to 21, has been postponed. Sources said it would be fourth time that the conference had been postponed when the Assembly had made all preparations for the conference.

nPatna: Members of the All-India Backward Students' forum held a meeting at Daroga Rai Bhavan at Daroga Rai Path on Friday. The students' forum meeting was called to discuss strategies regarding students' union election at Magadh University scheduled from January 30.

nPatna: Four criminals were arrested on Friday near the Darbhanga House area under Pirbohore police station. Three countrymade pistols, four cartridges, one knife and four cellphones were recovered from them.

nPatna: The inaugural session of the orientation course for young lecturers in Bihar was held on Friday at the Academic Staff College of Patna University. This is the 62nd course and it is being attended by 34 lecturers from different colleges of the state.

Muzaffarpur: Chief judicial magistrate (CJM) S.P. Singh has asked Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital superintendent G.K. Thakur to collect blood samples of Nobha Chakarvarty's parents for a DNA test. Nobha (13) had gone missing from her home on September 19, 2012.

The samples would be sent to a forensic department in Hyderabad. Nobha's father Atul Chakarvarty said he would move high court against the decision of the CJM for taking blood samples.

Buxar: Dumraon sub-divisional officer Rajnikant on Friday instructed police to lodge an FIR against one Kunj Bihari, who met him on Wednesday posing as a brother of a commissioner rank officer and asked him to give him an insurance policy or face disciplinary action by a senior officer.

Buxar: One Sanjhariya Devi, a resident of Khoraitha village in Dhansoi, died under mysterious circumstances on Friday.
