MUMBAI: Three people were killed while six injured as a section of an under-construction bridge collapsed near the international airport at Marol here on Wednesday.
Rescue operations were underway with eight fire tenders and four ambulances rushed to the site to save survivors trapped under the debris.
Those rescued were rushed to the Cooper Hospital and Desai Hospital.
The Mumbai police arrested three people as a case of negligence was registered against the contractors, engineer and the supervisor of Larsen & Tubro (L&T).
Uttam Kolekar , a police official was quoted by IBN-Live as saying, "Three people are dead and six are injured. A case has been registered against the contractor, engineer and the supervisor of L&T. The investigation is on."
The official further added that lack of safety measures led to the mishap, in which several were injured, mostly workers.
