Mourinho felt heat of Barcelona's 'superiority' as Real boss: Gerard Pique

London, June 17 (ANI): Gerard Pique of Barcelona took a dig at former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho over his inability to cope with Barcelona's superiority.

Pique said that Mourinho damaged Spanish football owing to controversies during his term, Daily Star reports.

According to the report, Pique said that the reason for Mourinho's behaviour could be attributed to the fact that Barcelona performed better and was winning trophies which was difficult for Mourinho to deal with, as he felt 'inferior' to Barcelona.

Mourinho fell out with his own players and Pique testified that the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid overstepped the mark during Mourinho's term.

Pique further said that it was not Mourinho but some of the Real players who decided that Mourinho's behaviour was getting out of hands and some action were required.

Mourinho quit Real Madrid earlier this month to return to Stamford Bridge after spending three turbulent seasons in La Liga, the report added. (ANI)
