More than half of Americans spy on their partners

New York, July 19 (ANI): A new survey has found that people often snoop on their partners by reading their text messages.

New York is one of the most trusting cities in the U.S., at least when it comes to couples' snooping habits.

According to a survey from SeekingArrangement.com, 55 percent of Americans confessed to spying on their partner in some way, the New York Daily News reported.

However, 51 percent of New Yorkers said they have never spied on their significant other, earning it the number five spot on the "Most Trusting Cities" list.

Jacksonville, Florida, topped the list with almost 55 percent of residents alleging they have not snooped.

On the flip side, 68 percent of Richmond locals admitted to poking around in their partner's business.

The survey also found that common spying methods included going through their lover's emails and text messages and searching their social media accounts.

Some 18 percent reported listening in on phone calls or going as far as using phone taps.

Others said they had hired a private investigator (4 percent), used a mobile GPS tracker (7 percent) or looking through credit card statements (16 percent).

Of the self-proclaimed snoops, 73 percent were women and 27 percent were men. (ANI)
