MIT tops list of world university rankings

London, Sept. 10 (ANI): Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been ranked as the world's best university, according to a research.

The QS World University Rankings show that MIT with a strong emphasis on science, engineering and technological education and research leads in the list of 20 universities, booting down Harvard and Cambridge University at second and third position respectively.

According to the Independent, the results of the research show four UK institutions in the top 10, including Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London and Oxford, while the US, by contrast, has 31 institutions in the top 50.

The list of top 20 universities around the world places Stanford University at number seven, followed by Yale University, having educated five US presidents at number eight.

University of Pennsylvania, founded by Benjamin Franklin, comes on number 13, while John Hopkins University, which is a not-for-profit private research university, has been given the 16th position.

The last to feature on the list of 20 is Kings College London founded by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington in 1829. (ANI)
