Sydney, Jan. 8 (ANI): The Melbourne Renegades have said that Marlon Samuels is being 'unfairly treated,' after his ugly on-field clash with Shane Warne during a Big Bash League (BBL) match at the MCG on Sunday.
Chief executive Stuart Coventry said a series of controversies throughout the BBL had left Samuels wondering what he had done to repeatedly become headlines stuff.
According to news.com.au, as Samuels lay on a bed recovering after a night at the Epworth Hospital with a suspected broken eye socket, Coventry feared the unwanted focus could put the international future of BBL players at stake.
He said that Samuels was disappointed and wondered about the reasons why people would provoke him.
Coventry did not say anything on whether rigid Cricket Australia penalties were needed to control such matters.
But CA chief executive James Sutherland was happy that Stars duo Shane Warne and Cameron hite were penalized, the report added. (ANI)
