Maxwell may get nod as spin-bowling all-rounder in Oz Test team for India tour

Sydney, Jan. 30 (ANI): Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell has a strong chance of being part of the upcoming Test team to India, as a spin-bowling all-rounder, on the basis of diligent net practice and a few appearances in the Twenty20 matches against Sri Lanka.

Selectors are of the view that Maxwell will give the team the option in the form of a batting all-rounder who can bowl spin, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Spinner Nathan Lyon, Maxwell and an unspecified option, is the other choice for the three attacking seamers, the paper added.

According to coach Mickey Arthur, the final selection is yet to be completed as the selectors have to cover all the bases and determine the team that plays based on the conditions faced.

The national selectors will finalise the squad for the four-Test series in India on Wednesday, with Maxwell and seam-bowling all-rounder Moises Henriques in contention. (ANI)
