Man U players expect `challenge seeking` Rooney to submit official transfer request

London, Aug 4 (ANI): Manchester United players are reportedly expecting their teammate Wayne Rooney to submit a transfer request this week and make his wish to leave the club official.

According to the Mirror, United boss David Moyes has repeatedly insisted that Rooney is not for sale and has rejected bids from Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, Rooney's teammates believe that his time at United has finally come to an end nine years after arriving from Everton in a 25 million pounds deal, with the report adding that the player felt that his future would be best served under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

Although United will ideally look to sell Rooney abroad, the report said that a probable submitting of an official transfer request would prompt Chelsea to increase their offer to 30 million pounds.

A dressing-room source said that it is clear that Rooney has made up his mind about leaving United, although he insisted that his decision has nothing to do with Moyes as Rooney just feels that that he needs a new challenge.

According to the source, the talk around the club has been that he will officially ask for a transfer in the next week. (ANI)
