Man U head coach Meulensteen with 'less prominent role' likely to quit

London, May 27 (ANI): Manchester United's head coach Rene Meulensteen will reportedly leave Old Trafford as he is thought to have a less prominent role under new United manager Moyes who will accept official duties from July onwards.

Meulensteen has also opted for a break from his career at United, the Sun reports.

According to the report, Moyes was keen on retaining the Dutchman, who was named first-team coach by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2007.

A source has revealed that Meulensteen is very highly regarded within the club and by the players, who have always enjoyed his training sessions.

However, the source said that previous United's manager Alex Ferguson's retirement has taken Meulensteen aback who feels this is the right time to move ahead and give Moyes the opportunity to bring his backroom team in. (ANI)
