London, Oct 6 (ANI): Manchester City came back with a bang from their Champions League humbling by Bayern Munich by beating Everton 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday, ending Everton's unbeaten start in the English league.
An impressive finish by City player Alvaro Negredo from Yaya Toure's pass and his teammate Sergio Aguero's low strike led City to a 2-1 lead at the Etihad stadium, with Aguero's penalty, which went in off Tim Howard's head, sealing the win.
Meanwhile Romelu Lukaku scored for Everton in the first half of the match.
According to the BBC, the spot-kick, awarded after Everton's Seamus Coleman tangled with City player Pablo Zabaleta, was credited as an own goal to Coleman's teammate Howard after the ball hit the diving goalkeeper and crossed the line after initially striking the post.
The report mentioned that the win is City's fourth consecutive home league victory and was a much-needed boost after the painful 3-1 defeat by Bayern on Wednesday and last week's shock league loss to Aston Villa. (ANI)
