Malala awarded EU's human rights prize for efforts toward education for all

Sydney, Oct. 11 (ANI): Pakistani student and education activist Malala Yousafzai has been awarded the Sakharov human rights prize by the European Parliament.

The Parliament's President Martin Schulz said Malala has bravely stood for the right of fair education to be provided to all children, which is commonly neglected for girls.

Schulz further added the parliament's vote for Malala, from a shortlist of three nominees, appreciates the incredible strength of this young woman.

Malala was shot in the head on her school bus by the Pakistani Taliban on October 9, 2012 for standing for the rights of education for girls.

She has become a global ambassador for the right of all children to go to school. (ANI)
