Hello, good evening and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post for the seventh match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This IPL 10 contest will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This will also be the first game at this venue for Mumbai Indians this year. While Mumbai are coming off a 7-wicket loss to Rising Pune Supergiant, Kolkata rampaged past Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets in match no 3. Mumbai’s opening game raised quite a few concerns for the two-time champion side. Their batting looked thin with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya not firing. It was only Jos Buttler, Nitish Rana and Hardik Pandya that helped them put 184 runs on the board against Rising Pune Supergiant. Bowling too was a bit wayward to start with only Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Mitchell McClenaghan were spared in the last game. There is some good news for Mumbai, as Lasith Malinga makes his IPL return while Sri Lanka’s new sensation Asela Gunaratne too will be available for selection. Ambati Rayudu, who suffered an injury in the last game, will not be available for action.
Gautam Gambhir, Chris Lynn hammered Gujarat Lions’ bowlers all around the park to register the joint fastest fifty in the competition for Kolkata Knight Riders. The Pair added an unbeaten 184 runs for the opening wicket for KKR (an all-time IPL record). GL bowling did not show any resolve apart from the street-smart bowler Praveen Kumar. Shivil Kaushik, in particular, lacked the ability to bowl at good lengths. Lynn smacked the living daylights out of Lions’ bowlers, accumulating 8 sixes and 6 boundaries to score unbeaten 93. Good news for KKR will be the availability of their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is back from national duties.
