LA judge upholds 'porn star must wear condoms rule' as constitutional

Melbourne, August 18 (ANI): An attempt by the adult film industry to overrule a local ordinance mandating use of condoms while filming sex scenes in movies failed on Friday in California.

A federal judge has ruled that a Los Angeles County law requiring adult film performers to wear condoms is constitutional, News.com.au reported.

Porn producers filed a lawsuit to block the implementation of the Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act, or Measure B, which was approved by voters last November.

US District Judge wrote on Friday that supporters presented sufficient evidence of the health risks the measure seeks to reduce.

Judge Dean Pregerson wrote that the law will "alleviate those harms in a direct and material way."

Meanwhile, Vivid Entertainment, who along with Califa Productions and porn performers Kayden Kross and Logan Pierce sued the county in January to prevent the implementation of the new law, expressed disappointment over the ruling. (ANI)
